Creativity From Limits

I've been trying to keep a reasonably regular posting schedule - weekly but yet again, I missed a week. I guess there's been a bit going on. I returned this morning to the work on my novel. Its a 5am regime I began that actually has served me very well.  I have a number of creative endeavours and interests and sometimes deciding which one gets the most direct attention is tricky. I'm a musician who began as a cartoonist who also did watercolors and with the birth of computers saw the potential for art utilising digital devices.  I've since then expanded to do 3D modelling and animation, digital photography and compositing as well as now somebody, who realises musical ideas through Digital Audio Workstations and looping gear. I'm 51 now and its been an interesting journey keeping pace with all the evolving rendering and animation technologies and 3D software since I was in my early 20's. The fact of the matter is art takes time, and sometimes the tools to realise...

 Being in the throngs of making a short film, and having to follow certain processes has this week, distracted me sufficiently from doing a regular Monday blog update this week. I'm not too upset with myself however because since last week I've registered for film funding opportunities, with a government organisation and made good progress on my short film.  I started my usual planning process with a mind map in Freeplane, then a sequence plot in Twine, and then the actual script I've written with Trelby. Now I'm in storyboard phase which I find a bit painful, since I dont really do analog art and haven't for many years. But the forced return to drawing has been good.  So that's whats happened since last post...

Its because its February, and I guess I got thrown by the short days of the month. I should have posted on the 24 but alas, I had issues. Well, I'm glad to say I have some renewed focus as I came across a competition for a short film that need to be submitted by March 27th. Given the story I want to tell, I feel now, more than previously, I am able to visually get the feel I want.  Amazingly this is all with free software too, but first I have to transform my mindmap into a sequence and script then shot breakdown. There is much to do.
