Day 1
Greetings, and welcome to today, day 1 for me back at work in 2025.
It's also a start of a new season of just trying to output as much creativity in all the forms I can as possible. Less consuming and more producing is my plan this year. Pictured belove is my computer "Cave". I think every creative should have such a spot.
So with that in mind, from Monday to Friday, I get up at 5am and work on my writing until 6:30am. Currently I'm working on a novel and also a graphic novel and screenplay of the same story. I guess this is my finding a creative rhythm in all the different creative things I do.
When I'm seated here at 5am its just me associating the space with writing productively, and it works I find. I find my flow state more easily knowing this is my writing spot. Now I just need to find other time slots where I can link my music and arty creativity to.
I had a 22 inch drawing pen and tablet that I bought in 2021 give up the ghost suddenly near the end of last year and I had a very disappointing experience with my insurance about it. In late November I got a new 12 inch pen tablet (as it was more affordable and being smaller the plan is to take it with me more) and so I'm back in the game.
Another thing I find is having the correct tools to empower yourself to be creative, so I buy what I need in that respect, but not excessively mind you, or else you end up hamstringing yourself with Gear Acquisition Syndrome (G.A.S).
The awkward part is realising you've not drawn traditionally with paper for about 30 years and so certain skills have dulled but the observation skills have stayed sharp, so, I'm forcing myself back into normal drawing again. I didn't bring the tablet to work today but I will from tomorrow.
